The term off-grid refers to not being connected to a grid, mainly used in terms of not being connected to the main or national electrical grid. In electricity, off-grid can be stand-alone systems (SHS) or mini-grids typically to provide a smaller community with electricity. Off-grid electrification is an approach to access electricity used in countries and areas with little access to electricity, due to scattered or distant population. It can be any kind of electricity generation. The term off-the-grid (OTG) can refer to living in a self-sufficient manner without reliance on one or more public utilities.
for independent power supply
SOLAR Hyderabad has specialized in Off-Grid system design. Whether in the mountains, on the steppe, in the desert or in the tropics our systems provide reliable, low maintenance solutions for independent power supply and storage – even under extreme climatic conditions
The ideal solution for every situation
Solar Hyderabad Off-Grid systems can be perfectly scaled to meet the electricity demand of consumers. We offer solutions for every project size and application:
Solar Home Systems (SHS) provide basic power supply for individual demand. Simple applications like lighting of rooms, charging mobiles, cooling food and medicine etc. can have deep impacts in improving living conditions, education and health.
Residential Systems are applications for rural electrification of entire villages. Contrary to Solar Home Systems in residential systems the concept relies on a centralized PV system. Electricity is distributed via a self-contained minigrid where several households are connected to. A centralized PV system is more flexible in that they can be extended modularly later on if electricity demand increases or if more households need to be connected to the minigrid. Residential systems often represent the economically best solution in sparsely populated areas. Furthermore one system for an entire village is more viable than several smaller SHS. Industrial Systems provide basic power supply for a wide range of industrial applications like infrastructure solutions for traffic signs or telecommunication systems far away from the public grid. These systems provide reliable power to all kinds of electrical consumers in the most cost effective way since no grid over long distances has to be built to ensure power supply. Backup Systems rely on batteries in order to assure an uninterrupted electricity supply in case of grid failure.
These systems are specifically applicable in regions with a low grid infrastructure. In events of electricity blackouts high-performance batteries fill the electrical supply gap for consumers that need permanent and reliable power supply. Hybrid PV Systems are systems that combine PV with different energy sources (e.g. diesel generators). They are specifically applicable to larger consumers that have to ensure large power production. Hybrid systems increase system availability and lower investment costs. Intelligent system design guarantees optimal system viability because the diesel generator only serves as a performance or power reserve to ensure power production during peak consumption or at night. Existing diesel generators can also be retrofitted with a PV system in order to decrease fuel consumption and thereby minimizing energy costs
